Asia singer-bassist John Wetton has surprised fans with news of cancer surgery earlier this month.
On May 13 Wetton tweeted a photo of himself in a London hospital with the cryptic message that he'd be "out of action for some days." On Tuesday (May 26) his camp issued a statement that, "On May 16, John underwent surgery for the successful removal of a 2.2. lbs malignant mass. John wishes to extend his thanks to Mr. Chan and his team John is also beyond grateful for the wonderful wishes and prayers received. John is recuperating."
Just this morning (May 27), Wetton tweeted that he’s leaving the hospital to “go home for R&R.”

In addition to Asia, Wetton has also been part of King Crimson, Roxy Music and Uriah Heep and has released several solo albums. It's not known how long he'll be out of commission.
