Out today (May 6) is Pierced Arrow, the second album from The Rides, the all-star group featuring Stephen Stills, former Electric Flag/Bob Dylan keyboardist Barry Goldberg and guitarist Kenny Wayne Shepherd.
As the junior partner Shepherd could easily be intimidated by his famous bandmates, but he tells us that he takes playing alongside them in stride:
"Stephen and I, he's like my big brother, so when you have a relationship with somebody like that you don't kind of go there. But it happened to me in the studio...To hear my voice blending with his in that manner...it was magical to me, and I thought, wow, this is pretty incredible 'cause the kind of people that do this with this guy are Neil Young, Graham Nash, David Crosby and now you can add my name to that list which I thought was pretty cool."
Pierced Arrow includes a cover of Willie Dixon's "My Babe" as well as Gladys Knight's "Use My Imagination," which Goldberg wrote. The Rides are currently on the road for a spring tour and are planning to tour again this fall.
