Today (August 12) Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits fame celebrates his birthday. He's graced us with awesome songs like 'Money For Nothing' , 'Sultan's of Swing' , 'Walk of Life' and 'So Far Away' as well as some great solo albums, film scores (Princess Bride, Wag The Dog) and work with artists like BB King, Eric Clapton, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Steely Dan and Sting. Check out his performance of 'Irish Heartbeat' with Van Morrison on Van's 'Duets' album.
"I just put some guitar on and sang it with Van...I've loved Van, of course, and he's been part of my life, his voice has been part of my life since I was a kid, from Them onwards. And so it's a natural thing for me, and 'Irish Heartbeat' was my choice because I love that song. He does a beautiful version of that as well with the Chieftains."
Here's his duet with Van Morrison on 'Irish Heartbeat'.
