Sting Announces World Tour - Plays Philly Fillmore in March

Sting will return to the road in earnest on February 1, when he launches the tour supporting his new album, 57th & 9th, in Vancouver.

He'll play theater shows in North America through March 14 , then launch a European leg of the tour on March 21 in Barcelona. Sting plays Philly at the Fillmore on March 11, 2017.  General Admission tickets are sold out, only VIP Packages remain via ticketmaster.com.

57th & 9th, of course, returns Sting to straightforward rock and pop songs after a number of musical experiments, including his 2013 musical The Last Ship. Sting tells us that there's no rhyme or reason to his creativity, and that he simply follows his muse:

"Y'know, I"m always led by my curiosity. I'm waiting for this thing to come out before I think again about what I'm gonna do, but my motto is to surprise. It should always be a surprise whatever you do, and the music you write should always have a surprise every eight bars. So it's always about surprise for me, and I need to surprise myself."

Sting will receive a special award on Sunday (November 20) at the American Music Awards -- which will be telecast on ABC -- and he performs at the NASCAR Spring Cup Series Awards on December 2 in Las Vegas, where he'll also play a New Year's Eve show in The Chelsea At The Cosmopolitan.
