Another Janis Joplin biopic has bitten the dust.
Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can, which was to have starred Amy Adams as Joplin, has been scuttled according to director Jean-Marc Vallee of Dallas Buyers Club fame. Vallee confirmed the cancellation to Collider, saying that he and Adams are "finally not doing" the Joplin project and have moved on to Sharp Objects, an HBO series based on the Gillian Flynn novel of the same name.
This particular Joplin film had been years in the making and gone through two other directors, along with legal hurdles over rights to Joplin's music and image.
It wasn't the only Joplin biopic on the table, however; actresses Zooey Deschanel and Michelle Williams have also been linked to Joplin projects, with the latter expected to begin filming later this year. Maybe.
