Santana will be hitting the road this summer, as it usually does, for a 20-date Transmogrify Tour kicking off with a pair of shows June 23-24 in Woodinville, Wash., and wrapping Sept. 11 in Anaheim, Calif.
The group will also play an eight-show residency during May at the House of Blues in Las Vegas.
These are, of course, dates for the "regular" Santana band rather than the reunited 1970-71 lineup that released the Santana IV album last year, and Carlos Santana tells us that he enjoys being able to move from one group to the other:
"There's two different bands -- the original band and then the 'Supernatural' band. The 'Supernatural' band is 'Maria Maria' and 'Smooth' and 'Corazon Espinado'...It's a matter of, like, stopping everything and shuffling, like, cards, responsibilities and good responsibilities, not bad responsibilities. Like, for example, how are we going to distribute the energy, not only musically but financially, and honor everybody."
The Supernatural band is planning to work on a new album, according to Santana, although no timetable has been disclosed. The two groups share two members, bassist Benny Rietveid and percussionist Karl Perazzo.
