On Thursday April 6, our friend, Samantha Krepps, of GIANT Food Stores, joined John DeBella to announce that GIANT was donating 1,500 hams and $4,000 in gift cards to help those without enough food to eat in the Philadelphia region. In addition to driving these donations to local food banks, she gave John $2,500 gift cards to use to assist MGK listeners. That's where you come in.
Help John Donate his Giant Gift Cards
John announced that MGK listeners can recommend local organizations (Food banks, community organizations, religious organizations) in need of food donations by emailing him their info at firstname.lastname@example.org. John will select multiple organizations to donate his huge stack of GIANT gift cards to.

Providing 117,000 Meals
The following Philadelphia area food banks - Share Food Program, Philabundance, and Cityteam - received 500 hams and $500 in GIANT gift cards. GIANT's donation resulted in the food banks being able to provide more than 117,000 meals.
“We need to fight hunger not just during the holidays, but throughout the year and this was a great opportunity to partner with MGK and our long-time food bank partners to demonstrate our commitment to this community-wide effort,” said Tom Lenkevich, President, GIANT Food Stores.
Local Food Banks Are Grateful
“We are so happy to partner with Giant in serving the people in our community that are food insecure,” said Steveanna Wynn, Executive Director, Share Food Program. “As a result of this donation, 500 Philadelphia families will have a very happy Easter because of their wonderful generosity.”
“Philabundance is grateful to Giant for its continued support of the fight against hunger in the Delaware Valley. This generous ham donation will provide much-needed protein to those who may not be able to afford it otherwise,” said Glenn Bergman, Executive Director of Philabundance. “Hunger impacts 1 in 5 of our neighbors, and donations like this not only help feed those in need, but shed a spotlight on this crisis, which hits every zip code in our area.”
“Cityteam is very grateful to Giant Food Stores for their donation of hams for the Easter Holiday Outreach,” said Nancy Craskey, development officer, Cityteam. “On April 15 we will have volunteers come to Cityteam to help us deliver the hams and food boxes filled with everything a family needs for thier own Easter Dinner in their own home. We are so fortunate to have partners like Giant who value like we do the families we serve, our neighbors in need.”
