ACE FREHLEY OUTER SPACE
The first single from original KISS axe-man Ace Frehley's forthcoming solo album ANOMALY is "Outer Space." When he donned the boots and makeup with KISS, he took on the Spaceman persona and he's often found ways to work the cosmic theme into his own work as well. Five solo albums later, this record comes some 20 years after the last one. During that time, recording and production have evolved from analog to digital and Ace got a crash course in the studio from his engineers and quickly found the reverb knobs. Using his signature Les Paul as an assault weapon, Frehley creates a driving urgency with one great insistent guitar riff. Add in thundering bass and pounding drums (Anton Fig) and you get a "Frankenstein" type shock treatment. Lyrically, well whether intentional or not, they are heavy metal Spinal Tap rock fodder funny. "You took a drink of my sweet love and then the poison took." And "I wanna take you to heaven and take you away from this hell." Whatever. We're not turning to Ace for "Leaves of Grass" now are we?
ANOMALY will be released on 9/15/09 on Frehley's own Bronx Born Records label.
