Krystal Chuck is a 22 year old resident of Royersford, PA who is undergoing treatment for Hodgkin's lymphoma. The chemotherapy treatemens she is recieving as part of her treatment are very experiemental and expensive, thus Krystal's family is holding a benefit in her honor called "Krystal's Kause." The beef and beer is being held at the Railroad Bar in Linfield, PA and will feature food, beer, and fun to help raise money for Krystal. Tickets are $25. On Saturday, November 7th, 2009, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network will be hosting a 5K walk and fun run with music, food, kids' activities, silent auction, raffles, special guests and more. The run will start at 8:30am at Tyler State Park in Richboro, PA. You can register online for $25 before October 18, or $30 anytime after. Pancreatic cancer survivors and kids 10 and under can participate free of charge.
Pancreatic cancer has the highest mortality rate of any major cancer, yet it receives less than 2 percent of the National Cancer Institute's research budget. Proceeds from PurpleStride Philadelphia will benefit the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

The first annual “Pints for North Light”, a fundraiser to benefit the kids, will be held on Thursday, November 19 at The Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant located on Main Street, Manayunk from 6-10:30pm. Tickets start at $50 and can be purchased online at www.pintsfornorthlight.com The evening festivities will take place upstairs, in a private banquet room at the brewery. Autumn brews donated by the hosting sponsor, the Manayunk Brewery and Restaurant, will be available for tasting. The Belgian brewery Saint Martin will premiere their Abbey ales for the first time in North America. Entertainment for the evening will include live music from the Deb Callahan Band, a nationally recognized blues group. As a multi-service nonprofit community based organization, since 1936, North Light’s mission has always been “to promote the welfare of the community, including the social, educational and athletic development of the youth”. Become a cleanup volunteer with The Friends of Cynwyd Heritage Trail. The trail is the best unknown recreational path in the area. The trial runs 2.5 miles from Cynwyd Station to the Manayunk bridge, or onward to the intersection of Belmont Rock Hill Road. Cleanup days are once a month on both a Saturday and Sunday from 8:45 am- 12:30 pm. Volunteers will be provided with tool and materials, as well as refreshments and giveaways. Proposed cleanup dates are as followed: September 12 and 13

The Delaware County Literacy Council provides free individual and small-group instruction to adults with low literacy skills. 2010 Liberty Ball, A Knight for the Kids at the PA Academy of Fine Arts
Philadelphians can eat, drink and dance the night away while they support the fight against pediatric cancer. The Philadelphia Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association is hosting the Liberty Ball, A Knight for the Kids at the Samuel M.V. Hamilton Building of the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts on Saturday, February 6, 2010 @6:30PM.
This semi-formal charity ball will include cocktails, dinner, music and dancing where all proceeds will go toward the 2010 Penn State Dance Marathon, which benefits the Four Diamonds Fund, pediatric cancer research, and treatment at the Hershey Medical Center. The master of ceremony for the evening will be Erica Grow, a meteorologist for 6ABC and a Penn State graduate.
This event is open to the public. Tickets are $95 a person through December 15, 2009 (prices will increase after that date) and can be purchased at www.libertyball.org or by sending a check to PSAA-Philadelphia Chapter, PO Box 21233, Philadelphia, PA 19114. |
