I know that we are in the age of digital photography, but you probably have a canister lying around your house somewhere. If not, head over to your local camera store and they might be able to give you one for free. Then all you need to do is fill it with items that will make it rattle– change, rocks, etc. You can give it to your cat like that, or you can attach a string by poking a hole in the top or bottom of a canister.
