Stop your dog from destroying toys
Views :: 79

Do you have a relentless, high-energy dog who chews through toys as soon as he or she gets them? Are you spending money on expensive products just to see them torn to pieces in a couple of days? If this sounds like a familiar problem, don't worry-- there are solutions for curbing this bad behavior.

Many dogs end up ripping through their toys in no time. This is a problem because you end up spending money to basically throw something in the trash. It could also be a potentially harmful situation if your dog chews off pieces of rubber or plastic and then ends up swallowing them or, worse, choking on them.

In order to prevent this behavior, you need to teach your dog to play nice with his or her toys. This article from the Pet Expertise Dog Training Blog offers some tips for doing just that. The key for doing this is to attempt to vocally interrupt your dog if he or she begins to be too rough with the toy. The article suggest reprimanding them with a loud "Eh, Eh" in order to get their attention. If the dog then resumes playing appropriately, make sure to offer a reward and praise.
