The legendary B.B. King would’ve turned 92 today (September 16), and out of all of the things we admire about the guitar great, it was his willingness to collaborate with different artists his entire career.
On July 4, 2005 Elton John and Philly's own Patti LaBella played Philadelphia's July 4th concert on the parkway. The concert was free but you could pay for a seat in the front section. All funds from those seats went to HIV/AIDS research organizations. Here's a taste of his performance.
On this day (Wednesday 5/3) in '75 Elton John became the first white performer to play on Soul Train. He was dressed as only Elton can dress and he performed "Philadelphia Freedom." Check out the vintage video.
