Journey’s Arnel Pineda Signs Solo Album Deal

After spending the past eight years fronting Journey and recording two albums with the band, Arnel Pineda has decided to put out some music of his own, too.

The Filipino frontman has signed a multi-record deal with Imagen Records, starting with the four-track Sounds of Christmas EP that goes on sale on December 18. In a statement Pineda says that, "I am pleased and honored to have the opportunity to sign with Imagen Records for my solo projects such as my new Christmas record out now, and my full length solo album coming out next in 2016, and of course, be able to work with such amazing crew and management of Imagen Records. To all the Journey fans, thank you for all your love and support to me and our whole band, looking forward to Journey's tour next year. Grateful to have all the people around me including Sanre Entertainment, its CEO Rene Walter, and my social media followers and likers, for their continued support, loyalty and love for my God-given talent. God bless everyone."

The four tracks on Sounds of Christmas include "This Christmas" -- currently streaming as the lead single -- "Christmas Day," "Christmas Time" and "Jingle Bells."

Pineda has been singing with Journey since 2007, after guitarist Neal Schon discovered him on YouTube. He's recorded two albums with the band -- 2008's Revelation and 2011's Eclipse and was the subject of the 2012 documentary Don't Stop Believin': Everyman's Journey.

Pineda and Journey kick off a summer tour with the Doobie Brothers and Dave Mason on May 12.
