Neal Schon and Peter Gabriel make up the May 10th edition of “Liner Notes.” Enjoy!
Neal Schon Talks Journey Set List
If you’re checking out Journey on tour this summer and think they’ll be bringing nothing but the hits, then you might be surprised.
In an interview with the Arizona Republic, Neal Schon said when asked about the set list, “I wrote a really cool letter to the guys in the band. I said, ‘Look, I think it’s time that we dig in a little bit to our repertoire and not just play the same stuff just because they’re hits.’ I mean, yeah, there’s a handful of hits you have to play. But that’s only five or six songs. You don’t have to keep playing songs just because they’re commercial. Times are changing. People want to see the jams. And we know how to jam very well. So I’m just saying, ‘Let’s just open the mind and bring it.’”
Peter Gabriel Working On Music Science Study
Peter Gabriel is involved in a very interesting new study with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Berklee College of Music.
Gabriel is serving as an advisor for a study held by the two colleges that’s measuring the physiological effects of music on your health. Also on the advisory board per the Boston Globe is Annie Clark (AKA: St. Vincent), Finnish conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen and classically trained pianist Jon Hopkins.
Erica Banas is a rock/classic rock reporter who never leaves home without her iPod, because to her, there’s something very comforting about carrying around every piece of music she’s ever owned in her life.
