Desert Trip A No-Go For 2017

For those hoping for another installment of Desert Trip in 2017, it looks like it’s just not meant to be.

In an exclusive to Billboard, promoter Paul Tollett of Goldenvoice who organized 2016’s Desert Trip, said, “We’re not doing Desert Trip this year. We loved 2016 Desert Trip – that was a special moment in time. Maybe someday in the future, we’ll do something similar.”

Before this announcement, there was a lot of buzz of a Led Zeppelin reunion possibly taking place at a potential 2017 Desert Trip. Whether or not Desert Trip hinged on the Zeppelin reunion isn’t known, but in light of Tollett’s statement, it’s clear it won’t be happening anytime soon.

2017 won’t be completely devoid of classic rock festivals, however. The Classic East and Classic West festivals will be taking place July 15-16 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles and July 29-30 at Citi Field in New York City. Both festivals will feature The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac, Steely Dan, The Doobie Brothers, Journey and Earth, Wind & Fire.
