Sting Releases Exclusive Live Album
Sting has a new live album out — but only for certain fans.
The new 57th & 9th: Live From Chicago is a new 10-track vinyl and digital download recorded on March 3 and available only to subscribers to his official web site.
The album is included as a premium as part of the $45 subscription, which also gets members special deals on tickets and merchandise and access to exclusive content. The album shows off the smaller, four-piece band Sting has been using for the tour promoting his latest album, 57th & 9th, and he tells us he likes working in that particular configuration:
“In some ways (it’s) easier because there’s less band-leading to do. I don’t have to organize space as much because it’s just naturally a function of a smaller group being there. With no keyboards, less of the frequencies are taken up, so there’s a lot of space. We’ll miss the occasional arrangement thing with not having a larger band, but I think that’ll be made up for by the space that’s created.”
The Live From Chicago album mixes 57th & 9th songs with older Police and Sting solo favorites. Subscribers can sign up at Sting.com.
Sting kicks off an eight-date North American tour on August 29 in Lenox, Mass.
