Over the weekend, Hurricane Harvey produced over 20 inches of rain in Texas, resulting in widespread flooding.
According to the New York Times, Hurricane Harvey remains in the Gulf of Mexico and is still producing heavy rain. By the time the storm leaves the area, it could become the worst flood our nation has ever experienced.
The Houston Fire Department has received at least 5500 calls for help over the last 24 hours, and over one hundred more individuals are still in need of assistance.
Amidst the devastation, there have been several acts of heroism, such as a SWAT member carrying a woman and her infant to safety and a police officer rescuing an American Flag.
In a Facebook post published on the Aransas Police Department page, Officer Jack McCarty rescued the flag before it was blown away.
While rescue efforts continue, the people of Texas need our help. If you can donate, please do so by clicking here.
