Though the group is currently on tour, it released a statement on Monday (August 28) saying that, "Houston has played host to ZZ Top as our home base since we first banded together more than four decades ago, making us especially concerned with the plight of so many of our fellow Texans in the wake of the flooding caused by Hurricane Harvey. We are encouraged by the city's and state's recovery efforts from this tragic event and stand alongside our neighbors. Long ago, we recorded a song called 'Heaven, Hell or Houston.' We’re confident that, in the near future, the first word will describe the title's third word and the middle will soon be overcome."
The trio has not yet announced any plans to assist with aid efforts for storm and flood victims, however.
In other Hurrican Harvey news the burdens faced by first responders in the area is tremendous. First responders have been performing countless heroic acts, including the ones listed below.
The Houston Fire Department has received at least 5500 calls for help over the last 24 hours, and over one hundred more individuals are still in need of assistance.
Amidst the devastation, there have been several acts of heroism, such as a SWAT member carrying a woman and her infant to safety and a police officer rescuing an American Flag.
In a Facebook post published on the Aransas Police Department page, Officer Jack McCarty rescued the flag before it was blown away.
