You Gotta See This

Google Maps is always good for a few laughs, thrills, and head-scratching moments. Will it try to direct you off a cliff into a lake like some people? Will it end up sending you the wrong way down a one-way street? Will it successfully help you navigate your way out of a traffic jam? Even if you safely arrive at your destination with no story to tell about the trek, you can still appreciate some of the odd street and landmark names along your way. In fact, there’s a whole Instagram account dedicated to these places.

It’s called Sad Topographies, and the account highlights points on the map you’d probably rather avoid. For example:

Worthless Road, Laytonville U.S #worthless

Clearly, the person tasked with building this road was feeling a little bitter about it.

If you’re having one of those weeks, end it with a weekend getaway to Cape Disappointment.

Perhaps this was the inspiration for the Green Day song “Boulevard of Broken Dreams”?

Wouldn’t go for a casual swim here.

Take a drive along this street if you’re looking to creep yourself out as part of your Halloween adventures.

As you’re planning your next road trip, these are a few places we’d probably go out of our way to avoid if we were you.
