New Director Named For Queen/Freddie Mercury Biopic
The Queen/Freddie Mercury biopic Bohemian Rhapsody is back on track with a new director just days after original helmer Bryan Signer was fired.
Dexter Fletcher, a British filmmaker and actor whose credits include Eddie The Eagle, Sunshine On Leith and Wild Bill, is now on the case, with filming expected to resume soon. Fletcher’s acting credits also include Bugsy Malone, Lock, Stock And Two Smoking Barrels, The Elephant Man, Muppets Most Wanted and more.
Singer was fired this week after not reporting back to the set after Thanksgiving break; In a statement he said he was caring for an elderly parent and also minimized claims of feuding on set with star Rami Malek.
Singer had already filmed a number of scenes, including a recreation of Queen’s famed 1985 performance at Live Aid. Bohemian Rhapsody is still scheduled to premiere on Christmas Day 2018.
