Rare Beatles Single Nets Major Price Tag
Beatles product continues to rake in the big bucks around the world.
A seven-inch original vinyl pressing of the group’s first single, “Love Me Do,” one of just 250 released with Paul McCartney‘s name misspelled in the writing credits as McArtney, has been sold via Discogs for $14,757 — just $243 short of the $15,000 record set last year when a DJ version of Prince’s The Black Album.
The sale was apparently made on October 9 but was only recently made public.
“Love Me Do” was released on October 5, 1962 and backed by “P.S. I Love You.” It peaked at No. 17 on the U.K. singles charts at the time and went on to top the Billboard Hot 100 in the U.S. two years later.
