Double Nickel Brewing’s Head Brewer, Drew Perry, believes that great beer isn’t defined by the length of its ingredient list, but by its ability to stand the test of time. He sticks to brewing uncompromising beers, putting a modern spin on classic styles.
You won’t find him chasing trends or following the market. He’ll stick to consistently brewing uncompromising great beers that will stand on their own through the test of time and that’s perfectly fine with us. You’ll find Double Nickel Brewing Company at our upcoming MGK Locals Only Beer Festival on April 21 at Independence Seaport Museum. Tickets are on sale now and selling fast.
We’ll be highlighting each brewery participating in our event on wmgk.com with our Locals Only Spotlight feature. You’ll get a feel for what drives them to make delicious craft beer and most importantly what tasty offerings they’ll be serving up on April 21.
What They’re Serving
Each brewer will serve up a Flagship beer (a beer they’re well known for) & a Specialty/reserve beer. Attendees will get to vote for their favorite beer in each category.
Flagship Beer Category – Vienna Lager – 5.3% ABV
In the early stages of opening the brewery there were a whole lot of unknowns. One thing, however, was certain – that there would be a focus on beer styles that the founders personally love to drink and would want to share with friends. Double Nickel’s Vienna Lager is definitely one of those beers. The recipe is true to the Vienna style, which resulted in a bready backbone that is perfectly balanced by noble hops. The Vienna Lager is one of Double Nickel’s best-selling beers and is part of their Core Series, available year-round.
Specialty Beer Category – DNA Series Batch #5 – Backward Sunrise West Coast Style IPA – 6.2% ABV
Born in the west and raised in the east, this liquid sunshine IPA moves against the grain. Dry hopped with magnum, citra and simcoe, this IPA is crushably hoppy.
Brewing Uncomprimising Great Beers
Double Nickel is not just another home-grown brewery. The brewery itself and the history behind it are comprised of multiple generations of people from many backgrounds that have come together over their love of great craft beer. Their many walks of life are what inspire them and make them unique. While some startup breweries have lost sight of what makes a world-class brewing company, you won’t find Double Nickel chasing trends or following the market.
