“The Rarest Beatles Record in the World”: John Lennon’s personal copy of the butcher cover version of Yesterday and Today. (estimate: $160,000-$180,000.)

Beatles memorabilia is no stranger to breaking auction records, and there’s a good chance that will happen at a Beatles auction taking place in May.

Julien’s Auctions will be hosting their “Music Icons: The Beatles in Liverpool” auction on May 9 at The Beatles Story Museum in Liverpool.

An extraordinary amount of items will hit the auction block, but the highlight will be what has been dubbed “The Rarest Beatles Record in the World.” The record in question is John Lennon’s personal copy of the butcher cover version of Yesterday and Today.

The record, which can be viewed in the gallery below, was given to Beatles collector Dave Morrell, and the cover is signed, “To Dave from/ John Lennon/ Dec 7th 71.” The album is estimated to sell between $160,000-$180,000.
