This Airline Will Pay For Your Funeral If You Die From COVID-19
Emirates Airlines has announced a comforting, or maybe not so comforting, new policy for their customers. The airline has promised to pay for funeral costs for travelers who contract the coronavirus while flying with them. This comes after the brand announced that they would also pay for the medical and hotel expenses for any coronavirus-caused losses during reopening.
On the website, Emirates says, “In the event of your death due to the COVID-19 Epidemic/Pandemic, the following assistance will be provided: transportation of the body from the location where it is placed in the coffin to the burial place in the relevant geographical area. Funeral costs up to the limit stated in the Assistance and Limits Table.”
Even if you stay alive but get sick traveling with the airline, Emirates will cover up to $176,000 in expenses as well as $118 per day to cover your quarantine accommodations.
The company hopes that this insurance policy will help them recuperate losses from people traveling less. In a press release, the Emirates Group CEO Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum points out that the company is the first in the industry to offer its customers free global cover for COVID-19 expenses. He states, “It is an investment on our part, but we are putting our customers first, and we believe they will welcome this initiative.”
