Sammy Hagar and The Circle have announced their first show date since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic.

Hagar and his backing band – which consists of Michael Anthony, Jason Bonham and Vic Johnson – will be headlining the Rockin’ Fore the Kids benefit show at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland on September 18. Per Rolling Stone, the concert is part of a celebrity golf tournament and silent auction benefitting Akron’s Children’s Hospital, MusiCares and local food banks.

Rolling Stone states that the press release they’ve obtained on the event makes it clear everything will “be produced according to all COVID-19 guidelines.”

Hagar made headlines this summer when he told Rolling Stone he’d be comfortable performing again before a COVID-19 vaccine and went as far as saying, “I’m going to make a radical statement here. This is hard to say without stirring somebody up, but truthfully, I’d rather personally get sick and even die, if that’s what it takes.”

Hagar would then issue a statement to via Facebook clarifying his comments saying, “I did that interview a month and a half ago, things change very fast right now, so I wanted to clarify and put a few things into context now. I did that interview May 8th when we were already several weeks into the stay-at-home, which my family and I took very seriously, and things were starting to look up, the curve was beginning flattening. So when I was asked if I’d be comfortable enough to get back onstage before a vaccine was out, I was cautiously optimistic. I said, ‘Yeah, not too soon. I want to make sure it’s not escalating. When it’s declining and seems to be going away.'”

His statement continued, “Big picture, it’s about getting back to work in a safe and responsible way and getting this economy rolling again. I will do my part. I stand by that. I employ 200 people directly and when we tour even more. Like everything today, it’s a watch and see over the next few months but we remain cautiously optimistic that with the right improvements and safety measures in place, we might be able to play shows this year. That said, as things change, for the better or worse, we will appropriately adjust our plans.”

7 Cocktails/Liquor Brands Associated with Rock Stars

  • Sammy Hagar – Cabo Wabo Tequila

    Share

Hagar arguably started the very popular trend of rock stars with their own liquor brands. Even though the Red Rocker has launched a number of different spirit labels, Cabo Wabo Tequila was his first, and it made him a very rich man. Hagar has since sold all of his stake in the brand, but when he first sold 80 percent of Cabo Wabo to Gruppo Campari in 2007, he earned $80 million.

  • “Dimebag” Darrell Abbott – Black Tooth Grin

    Share

Dimebag's signature drink featured two shots of Seagram's 7, two shots of Crown Royal and a splash of Coca-Cola. Basically, it'll get you to where you need to go and then some.

  • Lemmy Kilmister – Jack and Coke

    Share

How synonymous was Lemmy with the iconic Jack and Coke cocktail? Shortly after the Motorhead frontman died, an online petition went viral trying to get the drink renamed to "The Lemmy."

  • The Rolling Stones – Tequila Sunrise

    Share

The orange juice/Jose Cuervo/grenadine cocktail was introduced to Mick Jagger during a private party hosted by famed promoter Bill Graham. After that, it became the "unofficial cocktail" of the Stones' 1972 tour in support of 'Exile on Main Street,' and the rest is history.

  • Janis Joplin – Southern Comfort

    Share

Janis Joplin was so public with her love of Southern Comfort that it caused an increase in sales, which resulted in the company sending her a lynx fur coat as a "thank you."

  • Freddie Mercury – Stolichnaya Vodka/Cristal

    Share

Mercury's two drinks of choice, Stoli and Cristal, are just another part of his legend. Queen launched the limited edition Killer Queen Vodka in 2014. In the announcement of Killer Queen, Brian May said, "Freddie loved vodka and used to carry a dry ice cooler full of vodka with him on tour." As for the Cristal, that was Mercury's favorite champagne and would stock his fridge with dozens of bottles of it for parties.

  • Zakk Wylde/Black Label Society – Johnnie Walker Black Label

    Share

An obvious association, especially regarding Black Label Society's debut album 'Sonic Brew,' which featured the design of Johnnie Walker's Black Label Whisky label and bottle. Wylde, however, didn't get permission to use the Johnnie Walker imagery and was served with a cease and desist.
