This Whisky Was Just Named the Best in the World
Famed whisky critic Jim Murray has released the 2021 installment of his Whisky Bible and has named the best whisky available in the world.
According to Murray, the Canadian rye Alberta Premium Cask Strength takes the top honors of being the best whisky in the world. Per Forbes, Murray came to this conclusion after sampling “4,500 drams” of whisky and revisiting various bottles from previous years.
Alberta Premium Cask Strength rye is owned under Beam Suntory, which also owns many other spirit brands including Jim Beam, Maker’s Mark, Knob Creek, Courvoisier, Effen Vodka and countless others.
In a statement on the honor, President & CEO of Beam Suntory Albert Baladi said, “It is such an honor to be named World Whisky of the Year by Jim Murray and we are thrilled for our Alberta Distillers team. To receive this prestigious honor is a testament to the team’s dedication and passion for crafting a premium spirit of the highest quality and comes as at a time of Canadian whisky resurgence around the world.”
