Paul McCartney Announces Release of Second Children’s Book

Paul McCartney is setting up a very eventful year with a number of new projects on the way including the release of his second children's book.

Due out September 2 is Grandude's Green Submarine, the follow-up to 2019's Hey Grandude! The book's titular character, Grandude, is also the nickname given to McCartney by his own grandchildren.

Per Sir Paul's official website, "'Grandude’s Green Submarine' continues the adventures of Grandude and his grandchildren as they set off on a quest to find their music-loving grandmother, Nandude! It’s an action-packed extravaganza of wild imagination and fun for all the family, a read-aloud that’s perfect for sharing, destined to become a timeless classic."

In a statement on the book, Macca said, "I’m really happy with how 'Hey Grandude!' was received as this was a very personal story for me, celebrating Grandudes everywhere and their relationships and adventures with their grandchildren. I love that it has become a book read to grandkids at bedtime all around the world. I always said if people liked the first book and there was an appetite for more I would write some further adventures for Grandude – so he’s back and this time with his special invention, Grandude’s green submarine!"

Grandude's Green Submarine is actually the second book McCartney will be releasing this year. The music icon previously announced the November 2 release of . The book is McCartney's take on the memoir and is comprised of 154 songs he's written and dives into the stories and inspirations behind them.

In a statement on the book, Sir Paul said, "More often than I can count, I’ve been asked if I would write an autobiography, but the time has never been right. The one thing I’ve always managed to do, whether at home or on the road, is to write new songs. I know that some people, when they get to a certain age, like to go to a diary to recall day-to-day events from the past, but I have no such notebooks. What I do have are my songs, hundreds of them, which I’ve learned serve much the same purpose. And these songs span my entire life."
