All schools in the Philadelphia School District will move to remote learning on Friday, Jan. 7 ahead of the winter storm expected in the region.

The school district made the announcement on Twitter Thursday morning, tweeting, “Due to the winter storm, all SDP schools will shift to virtual teaching & learning on Friday, January 7, 2022. All buildings and offices will be closed.”

According to CBS3 the timing of the storm is expected to impact the Friday morning commute, with a bulk of the storm happening between 2a.m. and 7a.m. A winter weather advisory is in effect from 10p.m. tonight until 10a.m. Friday for both the Delaware and Lehigh Valleys.

CBS Philly reports, more than 90 schools in the School District of Philadelphia have already switched to virtual earlier this week due to COVID-related staffing shortages.
