Coach Dick Vermeil Is Going Into The NFL Hall of Fame

This Sunday, August 7th, Coach Dick Vermeil will be inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

I was fortunate to be a ballboy under Coach Vermeil during his first 3 years in Philadelphia with the Eagles, and the assistant equipment manager in 1977. In fact coach, Vermeil was responsible for getting me in the team picture that year.

Originally I was supposed to watch the locker room at the Vet when the team was out getting the picture but Coach Vermeil who was the last one out of the locker room that day for the picture saw me and said,

“Matt you’re as part of this team as anybody, you have to be in the team photo.”

Every time I run into him I thank him for that day. One of the highlights of my life.

Congrats Coach! Well deserved and always my favorite Eagles coach ever!
