Fall is upon us, and that means pretty soon, we'll see plenty of gorgeous, colorful autumn foliage wherever we look. Of course, Pennsylvania is a beautiful state this time of year, and we are very fortunate to have vibrant fall colors throughout the state.
As it turns out, one of the best places to see fall foliage in the entire U.S. is right here in Pennsylvania. It's a bit of a road trip from Philadelphia, but certainly not too far for a weekend getaway.
TravelandLeisure.com has put together a list of the best fall foliage spots in America. "There might be a lot of people out there who are not ready for summer to end, but it's not all bad news," the article states. "It's time for sweater weather, hot apple cider, and best of all, seeing the leaves change from the lush greens of summer to the bright golds, oranges, and reds of autumn, so we've rounded up the best places to see fall foliage around the country." They add, "over the next few months, each state will experience its own unique view of fall. While many people associate watching the leaves change with weekend getaways to the Northeast, there are plenty of places to see the stunning seasonal views throughout the country."
So, which Pennsylvania spot is on top? The Poconos. Of the spot, the outlet states, "The Pocono Mountains are stretched around gently winding roads that are perfect for fall foliage chasers. Route 507 around Lake Wallenpaupack makes a wonderful road trip for anyone looking for a relaxing, autumnal view. Leaves begin to turn in mid-September and peak in October." It sounds like now is the perfect time to start planning that fall getaway to The Poconos, just in time for the colors. I'm always surprised how many people say fall is their favorite season, but it is a beautiful time of year, especially in Pennsylvania. I personally think Pennsylvania offers some of the best fall colors in the entire U.S., and now is the perfect time to start planning that fall trip to see those vibrant autumn shades. I'm already seeing a few leaves changing colors, and while it's beautiful, I have to admit that I'm not very happy to see the changing leaves, since it means summer is winding down. I'm not ready for it to end, because we all know that snow is on the way.
