Kansas keyboardist/vocalist Tom Brislin has infused new life into the band since joining in 2018. Along with fellow newcomer Ronnie Platt, he helped the legendary band put together their 2020 album The Absence of Presence.

So, Brislin was caught a little bit off guard when he came across a TikTok with an interesting take about his role with Kansas.

“Being the keyboardist for Kansas can be a pretty boring job,” Mark Messmer’s caption read while he munched on a big of Doritos while mundanely sitting in front of a keyboard while “Carry On Wayward Son” blared in the background.

Tom Brislin showed a shrewd sense of humor with a clever response.

Hey @Mark Messmer, I wouldn’t call it a boring job! #kansasband #keyboardist #classicrock

His response included some ironic directions: “Better put those Doritos down. We have work to do.” The gentle jab sparked some enjoyable reactions from Kansas fans.

Kansas will start The Absence of Presence tour on Friday, Sep. 30. They will play at Parx Casino in Bensalem on Oct. 15 and the Luhrs Performing Arts Center in Shippensburg, PA on Monday, Nov. 3.
