Tough Night for Philly Sports… Time to Retire My Hat?
Last night was a tough night for all Philadelphia sports fans, unfortunately.
The Flyers lost by a score of 5-2 to the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Sixers lost a tough game to the Washington Wizards by a score of 121-111. Though star center, Joel Embiid, was out with an illness.
But probably the most heartbreaking loss of the night came in game four of the World Series as the Phillies lost to the Astros 5-0, and did not record a single hit.
The game represented the second no-hitter in World Series history, though this was a combined effort by four different pitchers for the Houston squad.
All that to be said, I think I have an idea why our sports teams took a turn for the worse last night…
And as much as I do not want to say it, I think the bad luck charm was my 1980 Phillies hat!
Sorry, Pancake!
So needless to say, I will not be wearing the hat at any more Sixers games for the foreseeable future! As much as I love it, the city needs to change the mojo a little bit and get the sports teams back on the right track!
On the bright side, I got to hang out courtside with DJ Ghost last night!
DJ Ghost is the Sixers’ official DJ and has been for the past eight years! He is far and away the best in the business!
Each home game down at the Wells Fargo Center, he sets up on the court right by the scorers table, where I have the pleasure of sitting, and spins songs during warmups.
He never misses!
It is so cool to watch Sixers players go up to him and request songs to get them in the zone for the game! He is so amazing that even opposing players go up to him and ask for requests!
Funny enough, he’ll take so many requests, but he never takes mine to play The Kinks or Pearl Jam!
Next time you’re at a game, keep an eye out for DJ Ghost on the floor in the corner by the visiting team tunnel.
We will have to wait until tomorrow for him to spin again, but in the meantime, today, let’s go Birds, and let’s go Phils!
