This past Black Friday, I hit the streets along with many other people just like me, who only had one thing in mind…

And that was to watch the United States Men’s National Team take on England in the 2022 World Cup in a crucial match.

The current World Cup kicked off just over a week ago in Qatar on November 20th, and our national team’s first game followed on the next day against Wales.

Things did not necessarily go as planned in that first match, however.

The game ended in a 1-1 draw in a game that the United States was favored to win. Though they were still able to pick up a point with the draw.

The underwhelming start to the world’s biggest sporting event led to a crucial game on Friday.

I was stoked for this big second contest for our squad, so I searched for a place that would have an amazing atmosphere to watch the match.

Man, did I find one!

On South Street in Philly, they closed down the block between 8th street and 9th street, and put a humongous big screen in the middle of the road for fans to watch the match!

What better place to watch the United States of America take on England than our nation’s very first capital after taking down our rivals for the first time hundreds of years ago in the Revolutionary War!

Take that, England!

The watch party was actually right outside of Brauhaus Schmitz, which is a really cool spot in general, and a popular spot to catch any soccer game no matter the circumstances.

Brauhaus

There were a ton of people there to cheer on our country, including one soccer fanatic in particular that I was thrilled to see, my buddy and the public addressing voice of the Philadelphia Union, Kevin Casey!

The match itself was action-packed and so fun to watch, even if it was not reflected in the final score itself, which was another draw, 0-0.

Nil-Nil as the football fans say!

It is funny, though. This draw was a massive win for the United States as they were underdogs against a great England team, so picking up a point as opposed to losing was very important for their chances of advancing.

The fate of our country’s squad all comes down to tomorrow’s game against Iran.

Win or go home!

Another draw will not get it done as England and Iran both already have wins in the group stage, so in order for USA to advance they have to jump Iran in points with an outright win.

The match starts at 2 p.m. tomorrow and I promise you won’t want to miss it!

You won’t want to miss my show on WMGK tomorrow either, and luckily for you, I’ll lead you right into the first kick tomorrow from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. with all the classic rock your heart desires!

Go USA!
