Earlier this morning some tragic news broke out.

We lost The Geator.

The Philadelphia icon himself, Jerry Blavat.

The Big Boss with the Hot Sauce.

He was in every definition of the word, a Philly legend, not to mention, a dear friend of mine.

The news is absolutely devastating for myself and everyone else whose lives were touched in some way by The Geator.

Jerry lived by me in the center city area of Philadelphia in the Society Hill Towne.

I would always see him riding his bike around the area, and when he would see me back he would say, “My main man!”

All the while he is snapping his fingers in only a way Jerry could!

Around our homes is not the only place I would run into the Big Boss.

I would also run into him down the shore from time to time.

The main photo in this article is from July 10th, 2016, at La Costa down in Sea Isle City!

I ran into him while hanging with some of my college buddies from S.U.N.Y. Plattsburgh, and he was nice enough to get a photo with us all!

It was a blast!

My buddies and I were stoked!

I actually ran into him back in October as well over at Live Casino, right down the street from the stadium complex.

He was doing what he did best, DJing.

When he saw me, he introduced me to the crowd in the building that night and even put me on the mic!

It was an honor to share a stage with him!

In all honesty, there will never be another one like Jerry.

He was responsible for introducing a ton of musical acts that went on to become legends in their own right to the masses, including acts like Four Seasons and The Isley Brothers.

Anytime he made a guest appearance on TV, it was a sight to be had, including appearances on The Monkees, The Tonight Show, and The Joey Bishop Show.

He was an entertainer in its truest form.

There was a reason he was in the entertainment business for 60-plus years.

Unbelievable!

Right now, there’s a hype record hop going on in heaven, no doubt about it!

I’ll miss you, Geator!

What a legend!
