This past Friday, I was able to broadcast live from the stadium complex down in South Philly prior to the home opener for the Philadelphia Phillies!

It was such a fun experience!

I did my show from the stage at Victory Beer Hall inside of Xfinity Live from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. leading right into the first pitch at 3 p.m. across the street at Citizens Bank Park.

It was a great atmosphere inside Victory Beer Hall, Xfinity Live as a whole, and even in the parking lots as fans were eagerly awaiting the return of the National League champions!

Not only was it an action-packed day for the Phillies with all the home opener pregame ceremonies, but it was also an action packed day on my show!

We had a ton of specially made t-shirts for the broadcast that we were giving out to fans that read, “Ring the Bell,” with the Victory Brewing Company logo as well.

And the fun did not stop there with Victory Brewing Company!

Fans in attendance could enjoy specials all broadcast long on their Brotherly Love Hazy IPA.

Not to mention, the best giveaway of them all…

One lucky person was fortunate enough to be entered for a chance to win Victory Beer for a year!

The giveaways were not the only fun part of the broadcast either.

I had a couple of special guests stop by for the show as well.

Ricky Botallico, Phillies alumni and current member of The Best Show Ever? on WMGK’s sister station, 97.5 The Fanatic, stopped by the show for a bit.

And the director of fun and games for the Phillies, John Brazer, also stopped by the broadcast, which is always fun!

It was such an awesome experience to be down there for this, and thank you to everyone who stopped by to enjoy the show!

Plus, I want to send a thank you to street team members, Bill and Gabby, and the on-site engineer, Rob Grusman!

Gabby actually rode the bull inside Xfinity Live a few times, which was awesome!

Overall, it was an amazing day that ended in a dramatic Phillies win!

Check out some photos below from the event that I posted on Friday!

The Top 5 Songs in the Movie, Air!

Matt Cord's Top Five Songs in, Air!

The other night I was fortunate enough to be invited to a VIP early screening of the new movie, Air.

The film is based on how Nike approached Michael Jordan with an endorsement deal that would go on to change the way athletes are looked at and the business of sports in general alike.

The movie gave me a feel of movies of past generations where it just had a special feel to it, whereas many movies these days just lack substance.

I would highly recommend that everyone goes and checks it out in theaters at some point because it is definitely a movie worthy of seeing the old-fashioned way!

The plot was fantastic, the acting was award-winning caliber, and the cinematography was excellent, but there was another thing that really stuck out to me that took this movie to the next level.

And maybe it is because of my job in the music industry!

But one important thing I noticed was the score in the movie.

They had so many great songs playing at what seemed to be the perfect times.

Every song was perfectly placed within the plot, and every song they chose was a hit!

So I decided, why not make a top five list for the songs used in the movie, Air?

Although, I must admit that it was pretty challenging to narrow the list down to just five because there really were a ton of all-time songs included in the movie.

Hopefully, some of these songs take you down memory lane as many of them are throwbacks you could hear on any given day here on WMGK!

If you have seen the movie already and think I should have included another song on my list, let me know!

If you haven’t seen it but plan to, keep this list in mind and try to make one of your own!

Without further ado, here is my top five list!

Enjoy!

The List...

Dire Straits - Money for Nothing

Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time

Night Ranger - Sister Christian

Mike & The Mechanics - All I Need Is A Miracle

Squeeze - Tempted
