Today, April 11th, is National Pet Day. If you have pets, you know that everyday is their day. If you don’t have pets you might be searching for one, and the people over at Shaneco.com have done some research into the most searched puppy breeds in each state. To get their results they took the top 38 dog breeds according to the American Kennel Club, then used Google trends to peek in on the last 5 years of statewide searches for puppies of each breed.
In New Jersey the most searched puppy breed is the Yorkshire Terrier. From seeing too many trash reality television shows I can only assume that the idea of carrying around a tiny dog in a purse played a role here.
The folks over at Shaneco.com also broke things into regions and in the northeast the Golden Retriever came in as the most searched puppy. In the midwest it was the Chow Chow. Out west there was a tie between border collie and corgi puppies. There was another tie in the southern states with Cane Corso and Dachshund puppies.
Overall the most searched breed was the Golden Retriever, which makes sense since the Golden Retriever is one of the most popular breed of dogs owned by Americans. It was followed by the Siberian Husky, and tied for third were the Chow Chow and English Bulldog.
