Foo Fighters Announce New Album, Share New Single ‘Rescued’
Foo Fighters have announced a new album and released a new single titled “Rescued.”
Fans will recognize “Rescued” from the audio teases the band has released for the past week. The song’s lyrics are certainly ambiguous, but many will understandably feel the vulnerability of the band dealing and processing the loss of drummer Taylor Hawkins. The lyrics for the chorus are as follows:
We’re all free to some degree
To dance under the lights
I’m just waiting to be rescued
Bring me back to life
Kings and queens and in-betweens
We all deserve the right
I’m just waiting to be rescued
I’m just waiting to be rescued
We’re all just waiting to be rescued tonight
“Rescued” can be heard below and is available for streaming/download here.
As for the new album, it’s titled But Here We Are, and it’s coming out June 2. Fans can pre-save the album on digital platforms here, while physical copies and album-exclusive merch can be pre-ordered at Shop.FooFighters.com. (A tracklisting for the album is below.)
In a statement about the LP, the Foos said, “A brutally honest and emotionally raw response to everything Foo Fighters endured over the last year, ‘But Here We Are’ is a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship and family. Courageous, damaged and unflinchingly authentic, ‘But Here We Are’ opens with newly released lead single ‘Rescued,’ the first of 10 songs that run the emotional gamut from rage and sorrow to serenity and acceptance, and myriad points in between.”
