Now, one town has been named the richest small town in Pennsylvania. Okay, that's not really making a "best-of" list, but it's still very interesting.
GoBankingRates has released a new study naming the richest small towns in America. "When you think of richest locations in the U.S., places like San Francisco, New York and Beverly Hills might come to mind," they mention in the study. "But prosperity and affluence aren’t only thriving among the glitz and glamour of big cities. Instead, pockets of wealth can be found in the nation’s quieter communities and small towns. And for some, living in a small town can be the best financial decision ever."
To conduct this research, GOBankingRates analyzed U.S. Census Bureau income data in locations in every state with 500 to 15,000 households to figure out the richest small towns in America. Then, they ranked them from lowest to highest income. The one state they didn't include was Alaska, because of a lack of sufficient data.
So, what's the richest small town in Pennsylvania? That honor goes to Fox Chapel. There, they have a median income of $247,930. Fox Chapel is a borough in Allegheny County and a suburb of Pittsburgh, about six miles northeast of downtown. It's known for being home to many wealthy people, so this isn't a huge surprise. Still, it's interesting to find out that, yes, Fox Chapel is the richest small town in the state. Find the full list of the richest small towns in America via GoBankingRates here.
Pennsylvania has some great spots to live, and as it turns out, one of those areas is the No. 1 best neighborhood to live in America.
This is according to a new study reported by Niche. According to the publication, "The Best Places to Live ranking provides a comprehensive assessment of the overall livability of an area. This grade takes into account several key factors of a location, including the quality of local schools, crime rates, housing trends, employment statistics, and access to amenities in an attempt to measure the overall quality of an area." The two most important factors, according to the states on Niche.com's website, are the higher education rate and the cost of living grade."
Niche.com adds, "The same methodology is used to produce the Overall Niche Grade for each ranked place." They also got statistics mainly from the U.S. Census, and those stats "represent the most recent data available." What's nice about this study is that they used actual numbers and facts, instead of just going by reviews or a vibe.
