Today is the sad anniversary of the passing of two beloved rock and roll heroes, both amazing bass players. John Entwistle, "The Ox," and Chris Squire, "The Fish." Entwistle passed in 2002, and Squire died 13 years later.

Sadly, I never got the chance to meet John Entwistle, but I've had the honor of speaking with Chris Squire several times over the years.
I would absolutely put Squire in my top three rock bass players of all time, along with Paul McCartney and Flea. He blew me away when I heard him play on "Roundabout," "Siberian Khatru" or "Heart Of The Sunrise." While most of our conversations have been spent chatting about whatever tour or album he was promoting, I always have to sneak in a personal favorite question if I have time, and I HAD to ask him about his bass playing!

Here's the clip, from April 18, 2011, where Chris and I chat about his playing, and his signature Rickenbacker bass. It never gets old getting to speak with your rock and roll heroes!
