Mommypoppins.com has a new list out of the best area swimming lakes. “Swimming lakes are the perfect summer destination that combines loads of water sports and fun with a day in nature,” they state. They add that, “Lake swimming is perfect when the beach or the pool is too crowded, or when you just want to mix it up a bit.” I totally agree. While I enjoy being by the pool, it’s just way better to be at a lake and enjoy the water in a natural setting.
Mommypoppins.com names lakes in the Philadelphia area. But, before we get to Philly, if you’re on the west side of the state, one great lake is Twin Lakes Park in Greensburg. It’s a major park that also hosts a bunch of great festivals, such as the Westmoreland Arts and Heritage Festival and the Summer Concert Series. Twin Lakes Park is also a great spot for fishing, paddle boating, canoeing and more.
As for Philly, according to Mommypoppins.com, the No. 1 swimming late around the Philly area is Blue Marsh Lake in Leesport. Of the spot, they state, “Just past Reading, Pennsylvania, this manmade lake features a very small beach area. Amenities include picnic tables, grills, concessions, and public restrooms.” They add that even though there isn’t a lot of sand on this beach, there’s lots of grass, so it’s easy to get a spot for sunbathing.
