The Final Beatles Song Might Be This One

Beatles fans around the world are waiting, patiently, for the release of a new “Beatles” song. So far, we know that Paul and Ringo and, yes, even George, have contributed to a third John Lennon demo. This sounds similar to Free As A Bird and Real Love, two songs completed by Paul, George and Ringo. They were released in 1995 and 1996 on the Anthology CD series. Paul McCartney refers to this third song as “the final Beatles song,” and many think it might be this one.
The Song And What’s Different About It
What’s new about this third “Beatles” song is that technology has changed by leaps and bounds since the 90s. The song is called “Now And Then,” and it was on the same cassette tape that contained Lennon’s demos of “Free As A Bird” and “Real Love.” The problem was, on this one song, there is an unknown buzz that runs through virtually the entire recording. It sounds to me like buzz from a TV. It’s no secret Lennon was an avid TV watcher, and he may have had it on and too close to the cassette recorder. Some have also speculated it could be the mic cable, or maybe the buzz came when the tape was transferred. Regardless, The remaining three Beatles DID attempt to work on this song, but the hum was impossible for Jeff Lynne to remove and the idea was scrapped.
AI Beatles? Not Exactly, It Appears
Once information came about this song possibly using AI technology, some did not take the news well. It caused Paul McCartney to clear things up a bit. At no time is there an artificial voice of John Lennon on this final Beatles song. Thanks to technology developed by Peter Jackson on the Get Back film, John’s voice is able to be extracted from that buzzy cassette..without the buzz! The same goes for his piano parts. Couple that with some parts added by the other three Beatles, and a lovely string section, and we have a masterpiece in the making. I played a snippet on my show of “Now And Then” from the original buzzy Lennon demo on Lennon’s birthday, and I can’t wait to hear the finished product!!
