The Halloween stories continue to trickle in even as we turn the page to Thanksgiving. This most recent one is a doozie. A Massachusetts guy gave trick-or-treaters the option of a Rotisserie Chicken when they came to his door on Halloween. Is this man playing Halloween chess while we're all just playing Halloween checkers?
The story goes that the man always wanted to hand out chickens. Not really sure why, but different strokes for different folks. He had to spend a decent chunk of money on the chickens because he offered the 20 trick-or-treaters a choice of either a rotisserie chicken or a full-sized candy bar. Two of the kids took the chicken! Those kids are on a path to upper management in the future. The chickens were purchased at Market Basket, which is a New England region grocery chain. Maybe the kids who took the full-sized candy bars, knew these chickens weren't from Costco. Costco is the king of the rotisserie chicken. This is unquestionable and can not be argued. If you still need proof, get someone with a Costco membership (because it's obvious you don't have one) to pick you up a chicken.
Growing up there was a house that would give out dimes, which was weird as a kid and is still weird today. If I was a kid who was offered a full-sized candy bar or chicken I'd also take the candy. As an adult, I know better. Maybe this would be my 'if I could tell my younger self one piece of advice' thing. "Childhood Steve, when someone offers you a rotisserie chicken or full-sized candy bar on Halloween, ask if is it from Costco. If they say yes, you take that chicken. If it's one of those tiny piss ant chickens from somewhere else, you take the candy."
