Jalen Hurts is Quietly Putting Up Ridiculous Winning Statistics
On April 24th, 2020 the Eagles made (at the time) a questionable draft pick in the 2nd round. They decided to draft Jalen Hurts when they had a starter in Carson Wentz. Looking back on that, Howie Roseman is a damn genius. Wentz has washed out of the league after stops in Indianapolis and Washington. Hurts has put himself on the map as one of the top 5 quarterbacks in the NFL. For the 2nd season in a row, he has the Eagles at 8-1 with the best record in the NFL. He is quietly putting up W after W after W. The NFL is a ridiculously difficult league to win games in, but Hurts and the Eagles just keep doing it.
After last night’s win over division rival Dallas Cowboys, a few reporters started putting out some stats that are eye-popping. They’re not eye-popping because of the way Hurts goes about his winning ways, but because of the names on the list he is joining. Brandon Lee Gowton who covers the Eagles for Bleeding Green Nation put out this tweet regarding Jalen being only the 7th quarterback to lead his team to back-to-back 8-1 starts to a season. Look at the names on this list!
Jalen Hurts is the 7th QB since the 1970 merger to start 8-1 (or better) in B2B seasons.

He joined:
Peyton Manning
John Elway
Troy Aikman
Jim Kelly
Roger Staubach
Bert Jones
Hurts is the youngest QB to ever do this. #Eagles
Another stat from Brandon, courtesy of Elias Sports Bureau Jalen is the 5th QB since 1950 (73 years!!) to win 25+ games over a span of 27 regular season starts.

The ridiculous statistics just keep coming. James Palmer from the NFL Network with this dandy.
Jalen Hurts is now 10-0 against teams with a winning record since 2022. That's best among all QBs with 5+ such starts since 2022. Hurts is also 12-1 including the playoffs, with his lone loss vs KC in Super Bowl LVII

In that lone loss, Hurts was the best player on the field for the entire game. His defense needed to make one stop in the 2nd half. Just the one, and Hurst would’ve been a Super Bowl Champ and MVP at 24 years old.
This Eagles team led by Jalen Hurts never seems out of it. They might toss a clunker of a half out there like they did in Washington two weeks ago, but the feeling of dread when that happens just isn’t there as it was in the past. You knew it was a loss when the team came out and played down to competition. It never feels that way with this era of Eagles football. One last stat about Jalen, but we’ll add head coach Nick Sirianni in. This is a list of the most coach/quarterback wins in the first 43 games together. It’s Hall of Famer, after Hall of Famer.
Below are the most wins by a HC-QB tandem in their first 43 games together since the 1970 merger (including playoffs):
