Top Christmas Don’ts
It’s the end of the year and everywhere you turn it’s lists! List on the best sides, lists on the best Christmas music, lists about lists about the best lists. I’m guilty of it, but that’s what you do this time of year. Just like February in sports radio is Mount Rushmore month. We all have quotas that need to be hit, and these things help fill those quotas when some time off is around the corner! Now that we’re all aware of what we’re doing here, lets talk about the top things you should not do during Christmas. Also known as Christmas don’ts. This survey was done by a British site called Thortful.
10. Leaving decorations up in January
How far into January are we talking? Before the end of the first week? What person is so ready for Christmas to end and the dead of winter to start that they’re removing the decorations before or with a New Years Day hangover.
6. Hating Christmas or being a Grinch
Yea you suck, don’t do this.
5. Being hungover on Christmas Day
This one needs a bit more clarity. How hungover are we talking. You should be able to get out of bed and do stuff with family, kids and loved ones. But you should definitely be granted a bit of a hangover. Christmas morning coffee hits so much better! We do Seven Fishes on Christmas Eve. Really we get together to eat and drink while attempting to put 7 things that lived in the ocean into our stomachs.
4. Putting the Christmas tree up too early
This should be replaced with putting your lights up too early. The tree is inside your house, do what ever you want in your own home. If you’re putting your lights up before Thanksgiving that’s too early… Brendan, I’m talking about you. The lights look great, but let Thanksgiving have it’s day.

Before we get into some of the smaller, yet still fantastic, Christmas trees across America, let’s look at the big two. The White House Christmas Tree, Washington, D.C. is really the quintessential Christmas tree for America. The White House Christmas Tree is simply iconic. It’s a representation of the holidays in the U.S. Each year, the White House staff displays the tree in the Blue Room. Lots of decorating goes into it, too. What’s more, as for this year’s tree, a press release explains, “Christmas tree growers Amber Scott and Alex Church, Cline Church Nursery, Fleetwood, NC waited for the arrival of special guests from our nation’s capital who were sent to select the 2023 White House Christmas tree.”
Also, the Rockefeller Center Christmas tree in New York City is iconic. Next to the White House Christmas Tree, the Rockefeller Center in New York City is the next most iconic Christmas tree in America.
