Bernie’s Pretzels Is A True Staple of Delco
The other day, we had a special delivery dropped off for The Matt Cord Show With Steve Vassalotti, and it was a Delco classic. Of course, I am talking about none other than some pretzels from the delicious Bernie’s Pretzels!
First off, I want to send a huge shout-out to the folks over at Bernie’s Pretzels in Aldan, PA, for making the delivery all the way out to us at MGK over in Bala Cynwyd.
Bernie’s Pretzels are a true staple of Delco and are a legendary pretzel bakery dating all the way back to 1960.
The Bazaar
They are located in Aldan, PA, as I mentioned before, and located in the Bazaar — otherwise known as, The Bazaar of All Nations.
Although the Bazaar has changed over the years, people in Delco remember it for all its past glory!
The Bazaar was a warehouse-like building with an eclectic assemblage of merchants until it closed in 1993.
It was touted as one of the nation’s first malls because it truly had everything!
Stores at the Bazaar included a pet store, bakery, record store, toy store, sporting goods, stationery goods, and even a movie theater!
If you lived near Clifton Heights, the Bazaar was truly a staple of your life!
Thanks Bernie’s
When Bernie’s Pretzels stopped by the other day, it brought back many memories from the past!
Thanks to one of their delivery guys, Dan Bartlett, who dropped off our delicious bag of pretzels to Steve and me the other day!
Funnily enough, Dan, like Bernie’s Pretzels, is heavily rooted in Delco. He is a Drexel Hill resident and Marple Newtown graduate!
The only thing better than the memories Bernie’s Pretzels brought back were the pretzels themselves!
If you never had a pretzel from Bernie’s, you are missing out!
Check them out on Facebook at Bernie’s Pretzel Bakery, and consider stopping by if you ever find yourself around Aldan!

Celebrating National Pretzel Day at WMGK Philadelphia Studios
Today is a very special day.
It is a day honoring one of the best snacks to ever grace this earth.
It is a snack that is best made in this very city — the city of brotherly love.
And if you think about it, there could not be a better-designed snack to represent this city.
With all the twists and turns we have in this city, and no I’m not just talking about the Schuylkill Expressway!
Not to mention, we can be a bit salty, especially when two of our sports teams fall just short of bringing a championship to our city and a parade down Broad Street!
If you have not guessed what snack I am talking about just yet, without further ado…
I am talking about the pretzel!
Today is national pretzel day!
And you better believe I am celebrating!
Thanks to our good friends over at Philly Pretzel Factory for dropping off a ton of different pretzel treats over at the studios!
Man, is their stuff good, too!
They dropped us off their traditional pretzels, their pretzel bites, which they call Rivets, and pretzel dogs!
Plus, they dropped off a bunch of great dipping sauces as well!
My favorite is the buttercream dipping sauce!
It is perfect!
And you better believe, when it comes to mustard, I am a traditional yellow mustard guy, as opposed to spicy brown mustard!
They also dropped off their brownie batter dipping sauce and that is also fantastic!
If you guys are in the neighborhood of a local Philly Pretzel Factory, I definitely suggest stopping by and picking something up to celebrate this day!
I know I am enjoying it so far, and the day is not even over yet!
I might go back for seconds…. Thirds… and possibly even fourths if there are still some pretzels left!
We’ll see!
