Dave Grohl has joined the growing trend of doing the Charli XCX "Apple" dance on social media. Spoiler alert: It's adorable.
Grohl can be seen in the video below, which his daughter, Harper, originally shared on her TikTok.
The "Apple" dance, of course, originated with Charli XCX, whose album Brat has been a massive critical and commercial hit since its release in June. Don't be surprised when the album nabs some Grammy nominations later this year.
The pop star shared the dance on TikTok on June 28. The caption on the video simply reads, "epic choreo moment incoming on sweat tour."
Since then, the dance has taken off and has become the thing to do on social media and beyond. Even Stephen Colbert did it on The Late Show. Naturally, he was then dubbed "Stephen Colbrat."
Dave Grohl's Previous Viral Moment
This is the second time Grohl has gone viral in July. Earlier this month, the Foo Fighters frontman took the internet by storm when he attended Wimbledon with his wife, Jordyn Blum. Grohl and Blum were seated in the Royal Box, and the normally casual rocker was wearing a dashing suit.
GQ had a detailed breakdown of Grohl's look, which was comprised of "a two-button navy pinstriped suit, gold printed necktie, Ray-Ban shades, and suede Dolce & Gabbana loafers." GQ also referenced Wimbledon's dress code in the Royal Box, which requires men to wear a tie while sitting in the Royal Box, and how the sporting event is considered "the Met Gala for people who like nice, normal clothes."
GQ also noted, "It’s unclear if the frontman is a big tennis fan, but Blum’s—who also dressed for the occasion in a collared blue Gucci dress and dark shades—forearm tattoo of crossed tennis rackets could give us a clue for the couple’s afternoon outing."
The idea that Grohl attended Wimbledon for his wife was seemingly reinforced when a BBC reporter asked him for his prediction for the event. Grohl said, "What? What? No clue. Couldn't say."
Many were impressed with Grohl's sharp-dressed look. One X user wrote, "Dave Grohl in his Wimbledon suit is an absolute vibe." Of course, you can't impress everyone. Another user wrote, "Dave Grohl at Wimbledon looks like every bum of a guy who shows up at court for his DWI hearing in a suit he last wore to a wedding two years ago." (One word: Yeesh!)
Dave Grohl hasn’t just given us some of our favorite music of the past three decades; he’s also provided us with some of rock’s best viral moments.
Honestly -- and this isn’t hyperbole in any way -- but Dave Grohl is simply magic. To celebrate his birthday (January 14), we gathered ten of our favorite viral moments from the two-time Rock & Roll Hall of Famer below.
But First...Some Other Reasons Why We Love Dave Grohl!
Narrowing down a list of Grohl's best viral moments to ten is really hard. Frankly, it seems like he's always doing the coolest stuff. If you don't believe us, here are just a handful of funny things he's done in the past couple of years:
Impersonating Christopher Walken introducing the Foo Fighters as the musical guest on 'Saturday Night Live.'
This video is just too hilarious for words. Grohl's impression of Christopher Walken is spot on and will make you literally LOL.
When the Foo Fighters played a special show for the town of Cesena, Italy after their own viral mass jam of 'Learn To Fly.'
Imagine organizing a massive jam session of "Learn To Fly" and having it go viral. Now, imagine the Foo Fighters coming to your town to play a special show because of your viral video. Just amazing!
Falling off stage in Sweden and breaking his leg only to return and finish the gig.
This might be one of Grohl's most legendary moments. It's still amazing that he fell off the stage, broke his leg and then returned to finish the show. Simply unreal!
His drum-off with Animal.
Two of the most iconic drummers in one video? What's not to love?!
Fakes falling off the stage at the same venue where he fell off stage and broke his leg.
Grohl loves a good joke. Frankly, it doesn't get any funnier than this hysterical moment of him faking falling off stage at the same venue where he broke his leg from falling off stage.
Busking at Pike Place Market in Seattle with Brandi Carlile.
Grohl once literally took to the streets with Brandi Carlile to do a little busking. Just imagine walking down the street in Seattle only to see those two playing together.
Tipping $333 on a bar tab so the bill's total could be $666.
This is quite the flex. Of course, if some of us had Dave Grohl money, we'd totally do the same.
Chugs a beer on stage and almost falls off...again!
This is definitely a fun clip. However, considering his history of falling off stages, perhaps Dave should be a little more careful moving forward.
Brings guitar to a blind child to play with during Foo Fighters gig.
Nothing to see here! Just Dave Grohl being a great guy, so basically just another day for him.
Playing 'Satan' during a 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' bit.
We definitely understand why it's fun to cast Grohl as "Satan." Unfortunately, he's such a nice guy that it's hard to imagine him going method as The Devil.
