Sushi by Bou, a brand that has "redefined the omakase experience," is bringing its one-of-a-kind concept to Philadelphia.

The new space has 10 exclusive seats for their signature timed experience, alongside booths and tables in the BouBar lounge.

What Is Omakase?

Omakase is derived from the phrase "I trust you, chef." In this style of dining, the chef serves the first course based on what fresh ingredients are available that day, then creates the following course based on the diner's reaction to the initial course, and so on.

Sushi By Bou

It's modern-day speakeasy-inspired omakase. It is one of New York’s hottest and fastest-growing restaurant concepts, known across the country for taking over unique, offbeat, and underserved spaces as small as 200 square feet. Now, it's in Philly.

Previous locations have included everything from the backroom of a coffee shop and florist to a hotel room, basement storage, and even a mop closet— and everything in between.

For Midtown in Philadelphia, Sushi by Bou will take over the former secret music hideaway, Leda's Cocktail Lounge, including the main bar, lounge, and upstairs space. It's been transformed into a Studio 54-inspired space, featuring a sparkling and seductive disco theme.

They have velvet booths, a collection of mirror balls, and a black-and-white gallery of iconic moments from the legendary disco era.

Sushi by Bou Midtown is the second location in Philadelphia, following the existing location in Fishtown, behind Izakaya Fishtown.

The Vibes

Every Sushi by Bou location has its unique vibe, and Midtown Village in Philadelphia is no exception.

Their “Disco Sushi” theme is an homage to 1977. Think Studio 54 meets sushi.

On Friday and Saturday nights, Sushi by Bou becomes BouBar, a chic and vibrant lounge experience with live DJs spinning a mix of classic disco and house music. While reservations aren’t required, they’re highly recommended for an unforgettable night.

Bottle service and exotic cocktails are also available to elevate the evening.

For those fortunate enough to secure one of the 10 coveted seats at the sushi counter, the 12-course experience promises dishes that dazzle with flavor, texture, and presentation.

Most of the items on this list are extremely affordable or absolutely free. You don't have to break the bank to do fun activities with people who are visiting you. Take them out into the great area you live in!

These activities and places are sure to impress and give them a great outlook on the city. Consider this a Philly-Area Starter Pack. These are the places you can take someone to give them a pretty good idea of what we've got going on without spending too much cash.

The Philadelphia area is a fun place for tourists. If they've got you, a native/local, to show them around, you can take them to some pretty great spots.

Here are 7 fun places in and around Philadelphia to take out-of-towners:

Longwood Gardens

Stroll the beautiful gardens for $30 for adults, $16 for kids, and free for super youngins ages 0-4. This is an all-season activity, with different plants on display according to the time of year. Around Christmas, don't miss the nighttime lights that dazzle and sparkle. They are timed tickets, though, so keep that in mind!

Peddler's Village

You can walk around Peddler's Village and not spend a thing, so technically it is a free activity! There are a wide range of shops selling everything from clothes, to food, to fun knick-knacks. You can spend as little or as much time as you'd like. Grab lunch at any of their restaurants! They have tons of holiday-related activities all year as well.

Philadelphia Museum Of Art

Come on, you know they're going to want to see Rocky and run up the Rocky steps. And while you're there, might as well go in and see all of the famous works on display. It's a relatively cheap visit, especially if you have a student, child, or senior in your crew.

The LOVE Sculpture

LOVE Park and Dilworth Park across the street are also must-see attractions for tourists. For one, City Hall is really pretty, and the LOVE sculpture is iconic. But remember, around the holidays, the parks are transformed into a Christmas Village Market and ice skating rink.

Adventure Aquarium

Across the bridge at the Camden Waterfront, the Adventure Aquarium awaits your visit! It's a fun day out for all ages that won't break the bank. They are one of the best aquariums in the entire country. Your visitors will be entranced by the shark tunnel and two cute hippos, Genny and Button!

Your Favorite Cheesesteak Joint

This is a must. Order out or bring them to the shop. Let them experience the "Whiz wit?" question. Their tastebuds will experience the revelation that is a cheesesteak. It only costs as much as you pay for the steaks and the experience itself is priceless.

Overwhelm Them In Reading Terminal Market

This is a fun one. Again, it can be completely free if you don't buy anything. But seriously, bring your visitors here. You will watch their eyes light up with wonder and overstimulation as they traverse the market. Take them to your favorite spot or let them pick. They have something for everyone. There's nothing more Philly than Reading Terminal.
