Eagles’ 2024 Christmas Album Unites Singing, Star Power to Support Philly Nonprofits
The Philadelphia Eagles’ 2024 Christmas album continues a holiday tradition of caring. This year’s album, “A Philly Special Christmas Party,” includes performances from Stevie Nicks, Boyz II Men, Mt. Joy, and a song with Eagles’ former center Jason Kelce and his wife Kylie on “Loud Little Town.”
Nicks highlights “Maybe This Christmas,” while Boyz II Men and Travis Kelce team up for “It’s Christmas Time (in Cleveland Heights).” Philadelphia band Mt. Joy performs “Santa Drives an Astrovan.”
Proceeds from album sales will support several Philadelphia-based organizations, including The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and the Children’s Crisis Treatment Center. This year, Jason Kelce and Eagles offensive tackles Jordan Mailata and Lane Johnson — all of whom collaborated on the album’s concept — have pledged to give a gift to every child in the Philadelphia public school system.
Since its debut release in 2022, The Philly Special Christmas albums have generated strong sales with big-name talent. In 2023, the album “A Philly Special Christmas Special” raised over $3 million to support more than 60 Philadelphia-area organizations.
Connor Barwin, head of football development and strategy for the Eagles, told CBS News Philadelphia that the idea to create a Christmas album came from a conversation among Jason Kelce, Johnson, Mailata, and Charlie Hall, drummer for the 2017 Grammy Award-winning band The War on Drugs.
“I remember Jordan had his guitar and he started strumming and singing,” Barwin said. “We sat there like, ‘Let’s take this serious, No. 1. If we’re going to do it, let’s make good music, let’s take it serious. No. 2, let’s have fun, and No. 3, let’s do something positive with it.”
“A Philly Special Christmas Party” rose to No. 1 on the Independent Charts after its Friday, Nov. 29, release. It also grabbed the No. 2 spot on the Holiday Albums chart, No. 2 on the Vinyl Chart, and No. 16 on the Billboard Top 200.
