Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare: A House of Horrors You Can’t Look Away From
Against my better judgment, I went and watched Peter Pan’s Neverland Nightmare. I say against my better judgment because I watched Winney The Pooh: Blood and Honey, a part of the Twisted Childhood Universe series, and was less than impressed. This one is much better.
As I watched the creepy “Peter Pan”, all I could think of was he’s a mix between Nicols Cage’s Longlegs and Buffalo Bill from The Silence Of The Lambs…creepy in every way.
The movie starts in the English countryside 15 years ago at a circus where we meet Peter Pan. He then makes an appearance from under the floor of a child’s home who was at the circus, and we’re off and running. Then the movie fast forwards to the current day, with an older and much more grotesque Peter, who’s been taking children to “Neverland” through the years. There are adult-related items sprinkled throughout the movie with names to correlate with the fairy tale. “Pixey Dust” is not what you’d think it would be with the use of a spoon, lighter, and needle.

Peter takes a young boy hostage and brings him to his house of horrors – a huge dilapidated house out in the country, far away from typical phone service and a place where they can’t hear you scream. This is where we’re introduced to “Tinkerbell.” I won’t get too much further into Tinkerbell because I don’t want to give it away. Also, look for a nod to Winney The Pooh on the t-shirt of a young boy in the movie. And, yes, Dr. Hook makes an adult, scary appearance.

I’ll stop there so as not to give any spoilers. I will say this: I did like Peter Pan. It had a certain vibe to it that made it an uneasy watch. It was dark, and the fact that it took place in England lent to some of its creepiness in a way. I also found it viable, which also added to its scariness. I liken it to The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Yes, that could happen! This is the same way. That said, I’m not sure if Peter Pan is just a deranged lunatic or an actual demon. I guess either is possible.

This is one of those movies that will stick with you. I’m giving this movie 4 out of 5 stars. I’d watch it again. I don’t know, maybe I should go back and watch the Winny The Pooh movies again.
