Dick's House of Sport, an enhanced version of the popular sporting goods store that features a rock climbing wall and other athletic facilities, will open in 2026 at the Cherry Hill Mall.

The 120,000-square-foot Dick's House of Sport store will be constructed at the site of the One Cherry Hill office building that is pending demolition during the next several months. PREIT, which owns the Cherry Hill Mall, said the new Dick's superstore will bookmark a new mall entrance.

According to the Patch of Cherry Hill, the Cherry Hill Mall's parking lot will have a few more parking spots than before when the project is completed. However, 230 spaces will be eliminated during the demolition and construction process.

PREIT highly regards the Cherry Hill Mall within its portfolio of malls, which includes seven properties in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. According to a PhillyVoice report, PREIT filed for bankruptcy twice during the COVID-19 pandemic before it re-emerged in 2024 as a private company with new leadership.

Dick's introduced the House of Sport store design in New York in 2021 as a way to test the waters of experience-driven retail. This business strategy uses engaging amenities and a personalized retail format to drive customer relations and sales.

The Cherry Hill Mall location for Dick's House of Sport will feature an outdoor track and field, a bank of golf simulators, and a multisport cage for baseball, softball, lacrosse, and soccer. Dick's House of Sport stores also hold community events, sports classes, and youth camps.

Dick's House of Sport operates in 20 locations across the country. The closest retail space to South Jersey is in Wilmington, Delaware.
